As the year draws to close it becomes that time of year when reluctantly you sit down and contemplate. I ask myself this, what have I learn't?
Its difficult to put into words the emotions that have passed or those about to consume me, but paradigms can be drawn, reflected and built upon. I know not of which, that will be come important but suffice to say my daughter has left an impact on all who meet her.

Many apologies for not keeping you all up-to-date.
We have been on that long road that everyone tells us we are on. Inspired by Sophie we continue to fight on her behalf against the wheels of bureacracy, coupled with the tasks we need to do for Sophies Gift and the incredible uphill struggle we have with Wake Up.

Let me scream!!
Sophie talked to me today. Well she tried.
Andy was at the unit and I phoned to see how everything was. As usual Andy put the mobile to her ear and I started my usual ramblings. Well sophie made the most amazing sounds it is between a babys contented moan after a good cuddle and the confused, frightened sound of a baby thats woken and is unsure where it is.
However it is the most wonderfull noise to me. Long may it go on and improve untill one day my fantastic brave daughter will once again answer my questions of which there are many.
Work hard sophie love mumxx |

Life has a strange way of reminding you of what you have lost, and doing when your are least expecting it.
It is my birthday on Saturday and I am not looking forward to it. Its not the age thing I am worried about but the fact that my best friend will not be attending.
We will visit on Sunday, we will smile, laugh and put a brave face on, but truth be told its never gonna be the same, from now on I will have a new friend some would say, dont look back but have u really tried it???? |

Today was a big day for Sarah, who has visited Sophie and encouraged her on her road to recovery. Sarah is one of her best friends who has taken it upon herself to provide the emotional support and encouragement to Sophie, and yet she moves onto University to get her qualifications for guess what, "Nursing".
Our thanks and love and best wishes goto Sarah in her quest to help others, and although goodbyes are hard they are not permanent. A quick journey up to waterloo and clandestine meetings in some Starbucks, in London will soon ease Sarahs worries!! We took Sophie around town today with Sarah and bought Sophie a TV for her room courtesy of the friends of Amanda Steers. Sophie is now watching Nemo and "Four Weddings and a Funeral [Hugh Grant]. Our heartfelt thanks to all those that wanted to help Sophie. Much love to you all Andy and Ali xxx |
